Communist "witch hunt":
-For no reason, invaded the lives of many Americans
-supported by anti-Communist groups
-checked the Coast Guards as well as homosexuals.
-People in entertainment feild we imprisoned thousands lost their jobs.
Space Race impact on government policies
-Scared americans after the launch of Sputnik1.
-This caused the government increased the funding for education.
Cold War mind set for the United States Government and public
-The people were afraid of communist infiltration and un-american activities.
-It is normal to be scared, but people took it to a different level.
Relationship of suburbs, automobiles, and roads:
-Suburbs away from cities, quieter less hectic.
-More reliance on cars to go places faster.

Baby Boom:
-Men came home from war to their wives, had children

Urban-Suburban Pattern
-the city is where low income classes live, although the business district within the city also has high class residents
-the suburbs are separated into two groups
-the houses closer to the city are for middle income families and the houses further away are relatively larger and also house higher income families
GI Bill
-if you sign up to join the military and complete your training, your college tuition will all be paid by the government
-basically is you give the military four years, they give you four years
Expansion of Middle Class:
-low prices on goods
-the invention of the credit card, which skyrocketed the amount of spending done around the U.S.
